We Will Work on:

  • Reducing your symptoms of guilt, shame, loneliness and disconnection. Other possible symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, depression, and hypervigilance among many others.

  • Defeating the voice in your head that tells you you’re worthless, useless, a loser, etc.

  • Strengthening relationships by attending to boundary violations that impede your sense of safety.

  • Promoting healing and growth on a holistic multifaceted level. We will look at all aspects of YOU to see where you want to change.

  • Helping you develop deep and important shifts in perspective, awareness, attitudes, self-understanding and resiliency.

My Therapeutic Approach:

Understand - Understanding is the first step. Emotional neglect involves many occasions of disregarded emotions and feelings. This leads to your self-doubt and confusion because your experiences weren’t validated and that left you feeling wrong, inappropriate and uncomfortable. The first of goal of my therapy is to understand the events and situations that led to who you are today. We only go as deep as you want and we go at the speed you want. Although it is not always an easy process, I will not push or force you beyond your comfort level. With that said, the more brave and courageous your exploration, the more healing is possible. But, you don’t have to do it alone.

Trust - Trusting is the next step. It’s the process of you believing in yourself. It’s you valuing that your new awarenesses and understandings are real, valid and important. Trusting that you are (and were) not overreacting or being too sensitive or blowing things out of proportion. Your experiences, and the influence they have on the person you are today, are real.

Honor - Honoring is the important step of recognizing that you are unique, significant and remarkable! You have lived through, and survived, a very difficult environment in which you were expected to come out thriving. Honoring is the healing part of inspiring you to now thrive. Honoring might be grieving your losses or making long-desired changes or finally trying something you’ve always wanted to try. It’s the time of allowing your needs to be taken seriously and no longer maintaining the neglectful patterns you learned.

How Often Will I Need to Attend Therapy Sessions?

It is completely up to you. You are in charge. You can stay with it for as long or as short as you decide is best for you.

But keep in mind that healing from the insidious and subtle, after-effects of an emotionally neglectful childhood requires a perceptive, shrewd and equally subtle approach - which can take time.

I work on a deeper level so that you are equipped with a real healing of your wounds. Although surface level fixes may help you feel better in that moment I believe that attending to the causes of the wounds will bring you a fuller authentic and life-long healing.

Do You Provide In-Person or Online Therapy?
Currently all therapy sessions are conducted via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform (similar to Zoom or Skype).

Do you do EMDR?

At this point in time I am not certified to conduct EMDR sessions.

Do You Accept Insurance?
Currently I do not accept insurances but instead am considered an “out-of-network” provider. This means that I can provide you with a detailed invoice of the service provided - called a “Superbill” - which you are then responsible for submitting to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. It’s not a guarantee that they will reimburse you in full or even at all. Each insurance company is different.

To figure out your specific benefits I recommend calling your insurance company directly (member services number on the back of the card) for clarification. Due to variations in all insurance companies (and yearly changes as well) it’s important for you to verify your current exact coverage. These are some of the questions to ask:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • Do I have out of network provider coverage?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • How does the submission process work?

[Please note though — that in providing you with a Superbill I will need to give you a specific mental health diagnosis due to insurance practices. If you do not want a documented mental health diagnosis then a Superbill would not work for you.]

In the meantime, you are responsible for payment of my fee directly after each session.
